How to Submit an Analysis Data Help Page

This guide is for starting an analysis. In order to start an analysis you need to have uploaded a data set and a metadata file.
More information can be found in our Metadata File Guide and Uploading Data Guide

Steps to Start an Analysis:

The following steps have been filled out using the demo dataset with the goal of finding what features are significantly different between 3 groups defined in the Metadata file.

  1. In the navigation bar under Metabolomics click on the ‘Start New Analysis’ button to go to the start analysis page

  2. First, selected the type of Analysis to run. Only ‘Group Comparison’ and 'Batch', are offered in the free version. They test all covariates and their pairwise combinations while accounting for batch effects if the Batch study design is selected.

  3. Next, select the dataset to upload, in this case 'Demo_Dataset' was selected. This is the 16 .mzml files from the demo data.

  4. Then select a metadata file that was uploaded with the dataset. In this case covars.csv labeled as 'covars' was selected.

  5. The last thing to do on step 2 is to select the columns from the metadata file to use in the analysis, in the example below 'Treatment' was selected. If the 'Batch' study design is selected, an additional column denoting the Batch covariate will need to be selected.

  6. Next, name the analysis. 'BioRankings_Demo_Analysis' was used in this case.

  7. The final two fields are the feature filter thresholds. In the example a minimum intensity of 6000 and a minimum width of 6 seconds was used.

  8. Lastly, click on the button ‘Start Analysis’ to start the analysis.

A sucessful submission will result in the following prompt and email.

Once an analysis is complete another another email is sent, an example is shown below.
